Victorian Bookbinders Guild

For all interested in the Art, Craft and Practice of Bookbinding

historical bookbinding

  • The August 2018 Guild gathering was an interactive presentation on book structure critique, facilitated by Julian Renard.  Julian has been professionally involved with books most of his life, and has particular interests in rare books and fine bindings.

  • I will again host an open bindery Thursday evenings  through May 2019.

  • Amongst the regular business matters that must be done, Reports ( soon to be posted online) , elections, ( all  existing positions reelected),  visiting  material suppliers LisaSam Leather and Materials, ( lots of interesting materials), and buy swap and sell, (some tools , great books, and materials)   and supper, ( supplied by a number of attendees and enjoyed by all)    was  a presentation   Story Telling through Space and Time by the President, with an eclectric range of items telling the story on communication.

The general concensus was that the story was interesting and compelling,  and,  if you were not there,  you missed an interesting hour.  We hope to post the text and some more pictures soon.
